Assodiporto is a regional association of companies in the Recreational boating and maritime Tourism sector, founded in Campania in 2023. It was founded by historic companies specializing in these fields and operating in the gulfs of Naples and Salerno. Capri, Castellammare di Stabia, Ischia, marina di Camerota, Marina di Puolo, Naples, Nola, and Sapri are just some of the represented territories.
Assodiporto was created with the aim of developing cooperation among the sound companies of the Campania region, proposing new ideas and projects for the recovery of the coastline; encouraging the creation/ transformation of infrastructures for the sector and a healthy territorial marketing policy that guarantees greater tourist, economic, and social development at a regional level. To this end, meetings have been initiated and synergies created with other local associations for an always active and proactive dialogue. great attention is also paid to the large unfinished works in the Campania region, to understand their causes and attempt to unblock those “public interest” interventions that have too often been forgotten.
These are its missions and functions: institutional representation to protect the interests of companies in the sector; promotion of tourism and nautical development, encouraging new projects and sea-land itineraries; training and networking, with workshops, courses, and b2b fairs to enable skills growth; environmental sustainability, supporting the management of marine protected areas and safety at sea; data collection and studies, to feed industry studies and contribute to long-term planning. These functions operate both at a national level – through technical tables and alliances with Confindustria Nautica – and at a regional level, in synergy with Assoagenti Campania, Propeller Club, Assocharter, AIATP, Port Authorities, Guardia di Finanza, Customs, and the Nautical Arbitration Tribunal.
International tourist arrivals, development of existing infrastructures, and job growth are the objectives set for the next two years by the regional Campanian association Assodiporto. The goal is to delve into the problems of the coastline and analyze possible solutions to encourage tourism development in the area within the recreational boating and maritime tourism sector. “Campania is a territory rich in entrepreneurs who have historically had the ability and foresight to develop tourist ports and mooring points to encourage arrivals in their home territories,” explains Luisa del Sorbo, president of Assodiporto. “Very often they have clashed with obsolete or even misinterpreted regulations, which in many cases have blocked development plans and slowed down the entrepreneurs’ operations. Finally, after decades of uncertainty on the interpretation of European directives, the government has clarified and defined a path for concessions for recreational boating: this is thanks to a long dialogue with the leaders of Confindustria Nautica and other trade associations.”
From these premises, Assodiporto’s dialogue with various operators on the Italian coasts and with other regional and national trade associations begins, which will see the board’s leaders – composed of Luisa del Sorbo, as well as Piero Giannetti, Raffaele Esposito, and Gerardo Principe – in the field starting next autumn. “Assodiporto boasts over forty members in Campania,” explains vice President Piero giannetti, “selected companies, leaders in the recreational boating sector who have been constructively driving the tourist growth of the Campanian coast for decades. The objectives are the growth and development of recreational boating and maritime tourism in Campania. In this sense, for example, we have kept our distance from entrepreneurs who have blatantly shown over the years that they have exploited their connections to manipulate laws, blocking the development of some coastal stretches, if not even causing environmental damage without respecting their concession obligations.”
great attention will be paid to the environment, particularly to existing or developing marine protected areas, the issue of production safety, and correct information on existing regulations and current laws, for sustainable navigation that protects environmental beauties without harming the international tourist arrivals that come by sea. This is an operation on which Assodiaporto has already been working for months, in synergy with Assoagenti Campania, Propeller Club, Assocharter, Aiatp, Port Authorities, guardia di Finanza commands, customs, the nautical arbitration tribunal, and marine protected areas.
