Stabia Main Port, selected as Marina partner of the America’s Cup, opens the tourist season with green services and restoration of the ancient port of Stabia, with private funds. Berthing for Gigayachts up to 150 meters underway.
Stabia Main Port, selected as Marina Partner of the America’s Cup, inaugurates the new tourist season with major news. Firstly, with a green approach that will allow all yachts in the port, up to 150 meters, to use electricity and turn off their engines, and by sensitizing units regarding provisions to use less plastic in favor of easily recyclable and biodegradable materials.
The news was made official within the framework of the VII edition of the Med Cooking Congress, which saw Stabia Main Port host Captains of large yachts, including Gino Battaglia, President of Italian Yacht Masters, international charter brokers including Sarah Sebastian of the Myba Charter Show, maritime agencies, and companies specialized in onboard provisions.
And within the scope of the kermesse, the project for the recovery of the public areas of the ancient port of Castellammare di Stabia, in the heart of the city center, was also presented, thanks to the management of Stabia Main Port. The leadership of the tourist landing, the only one in Campania for the mooring of pleasure ships over one hundred meters (gigayachts), started recovery interventions for public port areas in January, with entirely private funds.
The project, presented in February 2022 after a long bureaucratic process lastingthree years, will allow for a significant change of course for the Stabia waterfront, recovering the image and decorum of the public port areas and improving the panorama when arriving from the sea.
The first interventions were launched in January by the entrepreneurial group of Stabia Main Port, which benefits from the prestigious partnership of leading international agencies in the sector: Luise Group and BWA Yachting.
A recovery that will see the port skyline, in the areas adjacent to the tourist landing for gigayachts, restored over 5 years.
Work began at the construction site in some areas of the public docks as early as January, specifically in the area at the base of the lee pier, eliminating in two months—with the involvement of Gori and the logistical support of the Port System Authority of the Central Tyrrhenian Sea—the water leaks from the now old and rusty sub-services of the central water supply system. A problem that had dragged on for decades, creating holes and dangerous depressions for passers-by, as well as economic damage to the entity. Furthermore, the first scaffolding has appeared around the club of the Defense Agency of the Cordami Plant of Castellammare di Stabia, which externally will return to its ancient splendor respecting the original colors by November 2026.“It is important to emphasize that the recovered areas will maintain their intended use – illustrates Giuseppe Di Salvo, President of Stabia Main Port – Our task will be to recover the port’s skyline, supporting our facility in terms of image and decorum. We are continuing a path started ten years ago, believing in a project that has seen us committed for years as entrepreneurs with urban investments in the port sector, in the city from a territorial marketing perspective, and externally, with the international promotion of Stabia Main Port and the city of Castellammare di Stabia.”
The project therefore includes the recovery of: the Club of the Cordami Plant of the Defense Agency, the Warehouse used by the Coast Guard as a storage for seized goods, the building of the Customs and Monopolies Agency and the areas used by the Finance Guard, the elimination of the erosion present on the Marinella quay and the lee pier, and the total recovery of the public areas of these docks.
“The interventions also concern energy efficiency and technological improvements in our concession areas – explains Luisa Del Sorbo, Manager of Stabia Main Port – which as early as this summer will give us the possibility to moor pleasure ships up to 150 meters and to fully utilize, even in winter, our service building, transformed into a modern Hub supporting mega and gigayachts. All this will allow us to be more competitive in the international market and to have an extra edge, also in view of the America’s Cup, given that we have been selected among the Marina Partners of the event.”
As a Marina Partner of the America’s Cup, Stabia Main Port will be able to guarantee, on the occasion of the international event, spaces for exclusive events, safe moorings for ships including sailing vessels with a draft of up to 9 meters, a well-equipped warehouse with 24-hour assistance for customs procedures and formalities, a Concierge service, a tourist info point, and itineraries that will finally see the city of Castellammare di Stabia among the undisputed protagonists on the international luxury tourism scene arriving from the sea.
Meanwhile, for the Med Cooking Congress, the journey along the coasts of the Mediterranean will continue; for the eighth edition, new fam trips on the French coast are already planned.
